Not too long ago Courtney Love threatened to sue Guitar Hero but did not execute. Today in the New York Times, Gwen Stefani and her band mates of No Doubt are taking legal action against the video game makers who have built their franchise making games based on artist songs and stage presence.
The paper stated the lawsuit against the game publisher Activision Blizzard, No Doubt said it had agreed on Ms. Stefani and her band mates appearing in the new game Band Hero. But the rock group said that the game makers went too far by allowing Ms. Stefani’s virtual counterpart to perform songs that No Doubt never recorded, including “Honky Tonk Women” by the Rolling Stones. This “results in an unauthorized performance by the Gwen Stefani avatar in a male voice boasting about having sex with prostitutes,” the lawsuit says.
