Amazon Announces New 70 Percent Royalty Option For Kindle Publishing (eBookNewser)
Looks like Amazon is getting nervous about the Apple tablet. Just in time to beat next week’s supposed announcement, Amazon has unveiled a new, Apple-like royalty option for authors and publishers publishing their eBooks through the Kindle Digital Text Platform (DTP). NYT: Book publishers, who rail against the dominance of Amazon and its insistence on discounting new releases to $9.99, are now playing the tech titan against Apple ahead of Apple’s expected release of its new tablet computer. WSJ: Apple has recently been in discussions with The New York Times Co., Conde Nast Publications Inc. and HarperCollins Publishers and its owner News Corp., over content for the new tablet.
