Facebook Wants To Work With Media Companies (WebNewser)

Facebook has launched “Facebook + Media,” a page devoted to helping media companies use the social network to increase traffic and user engagement on their websites. Justin Osofsky, who leads the company’s media and content partnerships, told the San Francisco Hacks and Hackers meetup last night that Facebook hopes the page will encourage media companies to reach out to the social network. Online Journalism Blog: Facebook’s media page is a rather breathless creation, filled with ad-speak, but if you can put up with that it’s a pretty useful resource, providing a basic introduction to how the site can be used by journalists, along with tips and case studies for those who already use Facebook. Facebook Developers: “We’re committed to being the platform that helps sites build social and individualized experiences across the web,” writes Justin Osofsky. “We recently set forth to learn how news organizations can best use Facebook to (1) drive growth in audience and traffic, (2) increase engagement, and (3) gain valuable customer insights. Today, we’re sharing some early findings and beginning a broader dialogue through a new Facebook and Media Page.”
