September, a key month in the fashion/beauty sector, was in shambles in 2009 when the “great recession” was at its worst. The 403-ad-page InStyle stands out by having its second biggest September ever (2000’s 430 is tops). In Style publisher Connie Anne Phillips says one catalyst is the debut of the digital InStyle Boutique, with 58 advertisers participating.
