Fox News Gets Front Row White House Seat (Yahoo / The Upshot)

The White House Correspondents’ Association is moving Fox News up to the front row in the briefing room. Since veteran journalist Helen Thomas retired, three news organizations — Fox News, Bloomberg News and NPR — have argued that they should move to the front row. However, Fox News will not be taking Thomas’ long-held seat in the center. The AP moves to the center under the new setup, with Fox News taking the wire service’s spot in the front row. According to the WHCA website: “It was a very difficult decision. The board received requests from Bloomberg and NPR in addition to Fox for relocation to the front row and felt all three made compelling cases. But the board ultimately was persuaded by Fox’s length of service and commitment to the White House television pool.”
