Reporter Who Lived at Camp Hope in Chile for a Month Wins AP Prize (Poynter/Romenesko)

In a memo to staff, the Associated Press announced that its Bogota news editor, Vivian Sequera, wins this week’s $500 prize for her efforts in gathering reports about the miners who were trapped in, and recently freed from, a mine in Chile. According to the memo, “Just hours after the rescue ended, Sequera got an exclusive interview with lead engineers Andre Sougarret and Rene Aguilar by chasing down their car and, well, begging.”
