The New York Times iPad App Nearing 1.5M Downloads (Beet.TV)

The iPad App for The New York Times has had 1.5 million downloads since it launched in April, says Ray Pearce, who heads circulation for the newspaper. This number puts it ahead of weekly circulation for the Times, which is about 950,000 during the week and 1.3 million on Sunday. minOnline: The iPad ideas coming out of the magazine world are getting ever more curious. O, The Oprah Magazine has issued a free sketching app for the iPad that lets readers enter a creativity challenge issued in the February issue of the magazine. Generally the most relaxing time of day, this time slot is the same one coveted by television. When the majority of people are consuming content, it seems perfectly natural that people would use this time to do their reading, as well.
