Hurricane Irene Keeps Reporters And Forecasters On The Move(TVNewser)

TV news anchors, correspondents, and meteorologists may not have to go far from their New York headquarters to cover Hurricane Irene as the Category 3 storm barrels toward the East Coast. TVNewser: The cable networks are planning special coverage Sunday morning for the dedication of the Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial in Washington, D.C. But Hurricane Irene could scrap some of the outdoor anchor positions the nets had been planning. TVNewser: A rarity in the New York TV market Thursday night: All three network evening newscasts, which normally air at 6:30 p.m., ran at 7 p.m. instead, as all the local newscasts continued coverage of Hurricane Irene. Mayor Michael Bloomberg held a news conference during the 6:30 half-hour, pushing back the network newscasts.
