Domus has a some great photos of this year’s “heart sculpture” in Times Square. Designed by BIG, the project, dubbed BIG♥NYC, is a cubic volume of 400 acrylic tubes lit by LEDs. At the center of the “grove” of tubes glows a bright red heart, which grows larger when people gather around the installation’s base. As we wrote at the beginning of the week, “Sensors surrounding the installation collect energy from the footsteps of gathering visitors which is immediately converted into light, providing the project’s big payoff: ‘the huddled crowd makes the heart burn brighter. . . . A heart created from a collective cluster of individual constituents.’”
